About to all Melt

Snowplows out today cleaning up the roads from yesterday's freak snowstorm.  Should be up to 100 degrees tomorrow so we are enjoying the snow while it lasts.

Freak Snowstorm

We had a freak snowstorm in Baltimore today which was a big surprise but a welcome change from the record heat lately.

Down Time

Just enjoying my first day off from work and travel in a while.  Nothing going on in Baltimore but heat or rain so I am just vegging out on the couch and watching some movies on Netflix.  Also playing with a new Panasonic 7-14 wide angle lens.  Fun, fun.

Smoke It

These two shots are of tobacco plants growing in NC this week.  The plants are about 7 feet tall and are mature and flowering.

Sunny Day

These flowers say it all for the kind of day it was today here in Eastern, North Carolina.  Only got up into the mid 80's today but tomorrow it will be back in the 90's which for me is too hot, at least with the humidity we have out here.  Give me desert heat any time.

Crazy

My brain has two parts, the right and the left.  On the left, there is nothing right.  On the right, there is nothing left.  --- Gnarls Barkley

Tunnels

I really don't like driving in long underground tunnels.  I like to have multiple escape paths in case of trouble and this doesn't meet that criteria not to mention that 'IT'S A HOLE UNDERGROUND'.

Architecture

Just an architectural kind of day with some of Pittsburgh's unique buildings.  The first one is the US Steel building, a triangular building which uses unpainted steel girders which were placed on the exterior of the building.  I don't know what the other buildings are but the second one looks like diamond plate steel.

Just a few shots from Downtown Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh

Drove to Pittsburgh yesterday but didn't get out for the fireworks because of the rain.  It was my first trip to Pittsburgh and boy was I surprised!  Nothing like what I had envisioned.  It is a fantastic downtown and one of my favorite downtowns of any I have been to.  Nestled in the hills/mountains, at the junction of three rivers and filled with wonderful architecture.  I am going to enjoy this visit.

Checking Under the Hood

Not sure if seeing this makes me feel good or not.  One of the jets engines getting worked on before departure.
